Our Goodbye

2020 November 06

Late on Friday 6th November we lost a beautiful and precious person. They told me she would not survive the Monday night, but through her bravery and fortitude, she gave me the chance to wake up alongside her for four extra mornings. I would never admit to being the perfect husband, but to me Cheryl was always the perfect wife. I will love her and miss her forever. She died in my arms, her breathing went shallow, we both knew. I am devastated, but if I can take a smidgeon of comfort, it is that Cheryl retired early. We then had some wonderful times travelling, playing and learning to know and love each other again as we drove our beloved Bertie around Europe.

My darling Cheryl found the dreaded lump just after her 60th birthday. Even then she did not allow the cancer to define her and went onto create many more wonderful memories.

Cheryl you are a fantastic Mum, Nanny, Sister, Auntie and a friend of many. She will be missed by all that knew her.  As a family we are beside ourselves with grief.  I will always love my darling Cheryl and I am struggling to contemplate a life without her.  Goodbye sweetheart and thank you for providing me your company for 43 years.  Wherever you are you will make it a happier place.

Forever yours Steve 💗
